What can therapy help with?

How does a treatment programme work?

During a programme of treatment, firstly I’ll ask you to explain your issue and how you experience it. No matter what the problem is, everyone experiences it in their own way, and I want to find out how it specifically affects you. I will ask questions to determine if there are any times when it is better or worse, or happens and doesn’t. These are just to fully understand how you experience it and to see if we can identify any things that already help and work those into what we can to do resolve the issue. We’ll also work together to find out how you would like to be without your problem, what you would like to be doing instead, or how you would like to be feeling instead.

Over the next few therapy sessions we’ll work in stages to uncover and resolve the source of the problem and set you on the path to being the person you want to be without it. Sessions are usually a minimum of a week apart and often further apart later in a programme of treatment. This is because I want you have the time to experience the changes we will make to see if we need to make any adjustments. I am, of course, contactable between sessions for questions or support, if you need it.

Rather than doing something to you, I work with you, to help you take control of your life again. To help you experience the freedom of life without your problem, and become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

 

How many therapy sessions will I need?

That varies depending on the person and the problem! Many people see start to see change in 1-2 sessions. I recommend a minimum of three – Introduction, Change and Evaluation/Completion. Some people need a few more “Change” sessions because we need to move more gradually or because other things pop up. Most people though see significant improvement, and often success, within 4-6 sessions. I will always work with you as long as is needed, but no longer than is necessary to help achieve the best outcome at the pace that is right for you.

 

Where are you based?

I am based in Papworth Everard in central Cambridgeshire.

 

Do you work with children?

Yes! I work with all ages from about six upwards. However, for my younger clients, I often find a slightly different form of therapy is more appropriate and so I have also trained as an Ollie Coach. Please see my Ollie Coaching site for more details – http://olliecoaching.lightfromshade.co.uk/
